CSA
"Community Supported Agriculture"

In my perpetual attempt to streamline things and to find the right balance in my life, I have decided to make the difficult decision not to offer CSA shares for this coming Summer 2019 season.
CSA is a wonderful outlet and great for building relationships with customers, but it is also logistically challenging, occasionally stressful, and always labor and time consuming.
I WILL continue to grow Certified Organic produce to sell at our Farm Stand and at the South Anchorage Farmer's market, and I hope that you all will continue to be part of our farm.
One of my goals (besides figuring out and implementing brilliant weed-suppressing strategies!) is to focus more on the Farm Stand. Without the CSA always being the most demanding part of the mid-week harvest, we should not run out of exciting produce early - this means that customers will be able to come shop in a more relaxed manner anytime in the 4-8 time slot and feel confident that they will find what we are harvesting that week!
I also plan to post the week's harvest earlier in the week on Facebook and here on the website, and to include weekly recipes electronically and at the Farm Stand.
As I keep reminding my youngest, change is good (and inevitable) - it allows new possibilities to bloom and come to fruition!
For those of you looking for a local CSA recommendation, I am happy to recommend my friend Ben Swimm who just got hired to run APU's Spring Creek Farm down the road. Ben is an experienced farmer who actually assistant-managed Spring Creek back in 2010 before moving out of state. He has since run a couple of other successful market farms and returned to Alaska.
